Building Permits in Wilmington Rise to End 2023

Building permits rose in Wilmington to end 2023, according to the latest data from the Census Bureau.

  • M-O-M: New private housing units authorized by building permits for Wilmington rose to 287 in December, up 9.1% from November but still the second worst month all year.
  • Y-O-Y: Building permits were up 2.1% from the same time last year.

North Carolina. Building permits in North Carolina rose to 9,252 in the final month of 2023, up a whopping 31.2% from November and the second highest level ever (permits hit 9,263 in October).

National. Building permits rose to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.495M this December, up 1.9% from November and is 6.1 percent above the December 2022 rate.
