US Market Down Slightly Ahead of Inflation Data

US markets were down slightly ahead of inflation data. Nasdaq futures were down 91 points, or 0.75%, and S&P and Dow futures were down 0.40% and 0.30%, respectively.

  • The 10-year continues to climb to 4.0% starting the day at 3.90%.
  • Asian markets were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei ended the day up 1.3% on the news that inflation hit a 40-year high. Meanwhile, in China, the Hang Seng index fell 1.68% to end the week.
  • Europe is mostly green halfway through the trading day with France and England up slightly and Germany down just 0.18%.

TODAY:  At 8:30 AM, personal income and spending are expected to have increased by 0.9% and 1.3%, respectively. The PCE price index is expected to show price growth slowing to 4.8%. At 10:00 AM, new home sales are expected to have risen by 0.3% in January.
