Happening This Week: Q4 GDP

Tuesday

DR Horton’s earnings will be released before the markets open.

Wednesday

Mortgage demand for last week is out at 7:00 AM and then at 10:00 AM the Bank of Canada will announce their latest interest rate decision which is expected to be a quarter point.

Thursday

A busy Thursday starts at 8:30 AM with the first look at the fourth quarter GDP which is expected to show a growth rate of 3.3%. Also at 8:30 AM, jobless claims are expected to rise to 205k. At 10:00 AM, new home sales are expected to have fallen 4.0% to 614k to close out the year, and at noon the latest mortgage rate data from Freddie Mac.

Friday

An atypical Friday starts at 8:30 AM with personal spending expected to fall by 0.1% while personal income is expected to increase by 0.2%. Core PCE is expected to slow to 4.4% while monthly growth is expected rise 0.3%. At 10:00 AM, pending home sales are expected to end the year down 37.8% thanks to a 1% drop in December.
