This Week: It’s All About Housing

Monday

At 10:00 AM, Homebuilder confidence is expected to see a slight increase to an index of 34 which would be the only increase this year

Tuesday

At 8:30 AM, building permits are projected to fall 1.9% and housing starts are projected to fall 1.8% in November.

Wednesday

As usual, we start the day at 7:00 AM with mortgage demands and rates. At 10:00 AM, existing homes are projected to have fallen 5.2% in November and consumer confidence is projected to slightly increase slightly to 101 to end the year.

Thursday

At 8:30 AM, initial jobless claims are supposed to rise to 225k and at noon we will see if mortgage rates fall for the sixth straight week.

Friday

An unusually busy Friday starts at 8:30 AM with personal income rising 0.3% and personal spending up 0.2% in November. The Core PCE price index is supposed to rise 0.2% in November with year-over-year inflation slowing to 4.6%. At 10:00 AM, new home sales are expected to have fallen 5.9% in November.
