Before we can get to price concerns, we can’t forget about the elephant in the room named COVID-19.
- With fall semester beginning in less than a month, 34% college students have not yet finalized fall housing arrangements and 42% blame their housing hesitancy on COVID.
COVID is changing the game when it comes to college housing which is undoubtedly putting upward pressure on prices.
- Over 25% of students “reported that their rent for this year is higher than it was a year ago.”
- Because of the increase in rent, “35% of them saying that they cannot afford to rent an apartment in their college town”
Considering the fact that 56% of college students lived at home last year college housing could be quite chaotic over these last few weeks.
