Even After Bank Failures Vast Majority Still Trust Banks

Despite recent bank failures and concern about the global banking system the vast majority of Americans still support banks, according to the latest poll from Morning Consult.

  • 70% of Americans said they trust U.S. banks to do what is right in the latest survey. This is actually up from 66% in February.
  • 79% of Americans said they were either very or somewhat confident that their bank would be able to provide them with all of the money in their accounts if they requested it.

More Money More Confident. 77% of Americans who make over $100k said they trust banks and 85% said they were either very or somewhat confident in their banks’ ability to provide them with all of the money in their accounts if they requested it.

More to Come. Despite the overall confidence in the banking system, most adults don’t think the problems with the banking industry will be limited to SVB, Silvergate and Signature. In fact, 65% said they believed more banks would be put into receivership by the FDIC.
