European Markets Up On Optimistic Consumer Data

In Europe, optimistic consumer data pushed every major index into the green halfway through the trading day. Consumer confidence in the Euro Area was confirmed at -19 in February of 2023, the highest since February 2022 on expectations that inflation has slowed as the energy crises eased. France’s CAC was up 111 points, or 1.55%, followed by DAX and FTSE up 1.47% and .78%, respectively.

Asian markets were not happy about something as all major indexes closed in the red to start the trading week. Hong kong took the biggest hit with the Hang Seng index closing down 66 points, or 0.33% followed by Shanghai and Nikkei which were down 0.28% and 0.11%, respectively.
