Quits Hit An All-Time High

If you thought the great resignation was ending you thought wrong, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics…(BLS)

  • Quits, after a slight drop in October, jumped backed up to a series high of 4.5 million in November.
  • Leisure in hospitality led the way with just over a million quits in November followed by trade, transportation, and utilities (996,000) and professional and business services (798,000)

Despite the increase in quits, job openings fell for the month to 10.6 million and hires were little changed at 6.7 million…

  • OPENINGS: Education & Health services crossed the two million mark followed by trade, transportation, & utilities (1.97M) and professional business services (1.8M).
  • HIRES: Trade transportation led the way with 1.4M hires in November followed by professional business services (1.28M) and leisure & hospitality (1.26M)

NOTE: Construction industry had 345,000 openings, 423,000 hires, and 207,000 quits in November.
